What may I do as a general volunteer?
There are various ways you can volunteer for Isle Stand up to Suicide. These include:
Awareness events and campaigns*
This involves attending community awareness events to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention and Isle Stand up to Suicide’s services to the Manx community. These types of events often involve a mix of chatting to the public, fundraising (e.g. selling Prize Draw tickets) and helping assist with set-up and pack down. Prior events have included the Southern District Agricultural Show, The Royal Manx Agricultural Show and World Suicide Prevention Day.
Assisting at events*
This can involve assisting with specific events that Isle Stand up to Suicide has arranged. For example, it might involve welcoming guests or delegates to a fundraising night or training, serving refreshments or baking for the charity. Previous events have included our launch and anniversary evenings and helping out at our Parish Walk Stand by serving drinks and baking flapjacks for walkers.
Fundraising*
This can involve personally fundraising for Isle Stand up to Suicide through hosting events (e.g. coffee mornings, fundraising lunches, dress down days), completing personal challenges, or by attending flag days or bucket collections at events (e.g. at the theatre or a show).
